Nashville Consortium of Safety Net Providers is created: Thirty-five existing primary care safety net clinics, six of the nine Davidson County Hospitals, and the Metro Public Health Department of Nashville and Davidson County (MPHD) come together to form the Nashville Consortium of Safety Net Providers. Dr. Clifton Meador with the Meharry Vanderbilt Alliance and Dr. Stephanie Bailey with the Metro Nashville Public Health Department played pivotal roles in the formation of the consortium. The consortium began under the fiscal management of the Metro Nashville Public Health Department (MPHD).
